Pokémon Quetzal Multiplayer (v8.3) is a groundbreaking Pokémon Emerald GBA ROM hack by TenmaRH that transforms classic Hoenn into a real-time 1–4 player co-op world. Play together on the same map like an MMO: explore, battle, trade, rematch trainers, use Megas and Z-Moves, and adventure with fully animated follower Pokémon from Gen 1–9. v8.3 adds Legends Z-A Mega Evolutions, permanent Megas, Gen 8 mechanics, custom moves, revamped breeding, overworld wild encounters, massive PC storage (2,010 slots), difficulty sliders, shiny odds control, and multiple game modes — all playable free in your browser, no download needed.
From experimental mod to the most ambitious multiplayer Emerald hack ever made.
Originally titled Pokémon Emerald Multiplayer, Quetzal began as a technical experiment in GBA link functionality and grew into one of the most feature-rich Pokémon ROM hacks ever built. Constructed on the Pokémon Emerald engine, it preserves Hoenn's full story while radically upgrading how the game is played, shared, and replayed.
Instead of a solo adventure, you and up to three friends can roam Hoenn together in real time — seeing each other move across the map, battling side-by-side, trading anywhere, and taking on Gym Leaders, Team Aqua/Magma, and the Elite Four co-operatively. The result feels closer to a proper Pokémon MMO than a standard GBA hack.
Quetzal's multiplayer is designed to feel like a shared open world, not a traditional link cable battle.
Every player exists on the same live map simultaneously. You can see your friends walk, surf, bike, and fly — and jump into battles, trades, or Gym challenges together at any point without loading screens or lobby menus. This makes Quetzal one of the very few GBA games that genuinely feels multiplayer rather than just connected.
